The heavy boat traffic will also tend to push fry and predatory fish up the shelves in to shallow water, so as long as there is colour in the water they will happily sit right in the edge, (even despite heavy bankside disturbance from cyclists, joggers etc) so fishing along the bank and right under your feet can often be the best places to find them
